Charlie Cox Thinks Daredevil May Be Recast For ‘Infinity War’

Marvel Studios and Marvel TV have already begun massive crossovers, with each respective studio heading towards the eventual release of Avengers: Infinity War and The Defenders. But the real question is whether or not the shared universes currently aweing fans on silver screens and Netflix are ever going to cross over with each other.

The general fan theory is that The Defenders will be among the heroes fighting Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, but this has hardly been confirmed. Most of this is speculation due to the Russo brothers mentioning that they plan to feature “67 characters” (a remark later clarified as simply a figurative assessment of the movie’s scope) in the fight against Thanos.

Sitting down with Entertainment Tonight, actor Charlie Cox said that he has not yet received the call to appear in the next installment of The Avengers. This does not mean that Daredevil himself will not appear, but Cox is uncertain as to how casting will play out.

“Marvel TV and Marvel Studios are two very different things. So even if the character were to appear in that film, that doesn’t necessarily mean that I would appear in that film. I will pick a fight with the guy that they choose.”

Remember that just because Charlie Cox has not received the call as of yet does not mean it isn’t coming. Dominic Cooper, who played Howard Stark in Captain America: The First Avenger, was able to reprise his role for Agent Carter. While it’s possible that the Netflix series may inhabit its own little corner of the MCU (at least as far as contracts and other business affairs are concerned), Charlie Cox is definitely not out of the running to play the Man Without Fear on the big screen.

Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 is set for release on May 4, 2018. In the meantime, Charlie Cox will definitely be appearing to fight Jon Bernthal as the Punisher when the second season of Daredevil hits Netflix on March 18.
