Chris Evans Opens Up About His Decision To Extend His Contract With Marvel

Chris Evans Opens Up About His Decision To Extend His Contract With Marvel. The actor is now contracted through Avengers 4.

For a while, it seemed like Chris Evans would really call it quits from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He had mentioned before that after the first three Captain America movies and the two Avengers films that he’d be done. So what changed his mind?

Speaking with The Telegraph, the actor discussed the reasons behind his decision to stay with the MCU and renew his contract. That decision involved Avengers: Infinity War.

“I had six films in my Marvel contract, so I could have said after the third Avengers I was done, but they wanted to make the third and fourth Avengers films as a two-parter. They said they had so many other characters to fit in – Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Ant Man – and couldn’t get them all into one movie.”

Evans also added that he stayed “because it made sense. It’s going to wrap everything up.” This way, the actor gets to be in the final Avengers film (currently untitled). It begs the question regarding how Marvel will handle the wrapping up of Captain America’s storyline. But I guess that’s going to be something we have to wait and see unfold.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Josh Brolin, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, and several other cast members across the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018.
