Chris Evans Can’t See Marvel Studios Replacing Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man

He is Iron Man.

Captain America actor Chris Evans explained that he can’t see Marvel Studios recasting Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man in the future.

After Robert Downey Jr.’s incredible tenure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Iron Man, it seems like he’s become the benchmark for all forms of the character across a number of mediums. But with the MCU edging closer and closer to the multiverse, alongside the fact that studios love to reboot a property, many have wondered if Marvel would ever recast the star as Tony Stark and Iron Man. His equally popular co-star Chris Evans recently explained that he doesn’t think that’ll  happen.

During a virtual appearance at ACE Comic-Con, Chris Evans briefly touched on Robert Downey Jr.’s work in the Iron Man role, explaining that it’s not “like a James Bond or a Superman”. Downey truly made the role of Tony Stark his own due to his charismatic performance, which means it would be difficult for someone else to come in and cast a new spin on Iron Man after the character’s death in Avengers: Endgame. Take a look at Chris Evans discussing Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man below.

“I don’t consider that a role that’s gonna be like a James Bond or a Superman or Batman, that somehow other people get a bite at the apple. He’s Iron Man. The end”

Do you think Marvel Studios will ever recast Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man? Do you agree with Chris Evans? Sound-off in the comments below!
