While Thor: Ragnarok reinvigorated everyone’s favorite Norse God, fans very nearly saw the return of his classic silver helmet from the comics that appeared in the first Thor film in 2011. Thor made his debut with the helmet in his original comics introduction during Journey Into Mystery #83, and has gone through a variety of redesigns throughout the years since. Thor: Ragnarok gave Chris Hemsworth a Jack Kirby-inspired take on the helmet, where the wings flipped down before battle.
A new piece of concept art from Anthony Francisco shows off Chris Hemsworth wearing the helmet once again for Thor: Ragnarok, although it looks slightly different from the design that briefly appeared in the first film. The wings on this Ragnarok design are scaled down slightly, while the helmet itself looks more medieval. Thor’s armor also gets a simple redesign for Ragnarok, with Chris Hemsworth’s Marvel hero wearing a metal collar and a plated sleeve. Take a look at Chris Hemsworth wearing the classic helmet in the concept art below.
