Chris Pratt Begins Working On ‘The LEGO Movie Sequel’ In 2 Weeks

During the press tour for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, Chris Pratt revealed that he'll begin working on The LEGO Movie Sequel in about two weeks.

Everyone doubted The LEGO Movie when it was released back in 2014, citing that it would simply be a cash-in on a popular brand. We were all proven wrong after its critical and commercial success, cementing it as one of the best-animated films of the decade. The film even spawned two spin-offs, The LEGO Batman Movie which was released earlier this year and the upcoming The LEGO Ninjago Movie.

Chris Pratt, the actor who voiced Emmett in the first film, is aware that it’ll be hard to top the first film. During the press tour for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Pratt told io9 some of the difficulties regarding the sequel.

The first movie is a very difficult movie to create a sequel to because, as all the best movies do, it paints itself into a corner. Especially by tearing down the fourth wall in the final act. That’s a major jump, so they’ve got some really awesome ideas on how to deal with that and I can’t wait for people to see it.

Pratt also revealed that he’ll get into doing his work on the sequel in the near future.

“I’ve done some work on it but we really haven’t done the bulk of the work yet. I’m about to get the newest draft of the script and really dive into it in about two weeks. I’ve got my major record in about two weeks.”

The LEGO Movie Sequel is directed by Mike Mitchell and will be produced by original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

The LEGO Movie Sequel hits theaters on February 8, 2019.
