Christopher McQuarrie Turned Down DC Films For ‘Mission: Impossible’ Sequels

It seems that despite his commitment to the Mission: Impossible franchise, director Christopher McQuarrie had the chance to helm a DC project but turned them down to do more sequels to the franchise.

In a report published by The Hollywood Reporter, the director was announced to helm two additional Mission: Impossible films as screenwriter and director. But apparently, after the critical and financial success of Mission: Impossible-Fallout the director was approached to direct a DC project. Christopher McQuarrie instead decided to take a break from directing and stay true to his friend, Tom Cruise.

What do you all make of this? Would you like to have seen Christopher McQuarrie take on a DC property? Which one you have liked to see him direct? Is he better suited to the Mission: Impossible franchise? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Here’s the synopsis for the latest film, Mission: Impossible-Fallout:

The best intentions often come back to haunt you. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT finds Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team (Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) along with some familiar allies (Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong. Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout is now available on digital platforms, Blu-ray and DVD.
