In a recent tweet, Fandom promoted the rumor, saying:
“Christopher McQuarrie reportedly turned down directing several DC films in favor of returning to direct two more ‘Mission Impossible’ films.”
After over a dozen responses from heartbroken Marvel and DC fanatics, Chris McQuarrie himself replied to the tweet, with a rather straightforward premise:
“You should really assume nothing. Anything you hear or hope about DC is horseshit if you’re not hearing it from me.”

Though Christopher McQuarrie did not go into depth on what he meant on Twitter, the filmmaker did mention that he delved into details on the whole Mission Impossible choice over Marvel and DC on an episode of Empire Magazine podcast with host Chris Hewitt.
