Clark Gregg On The New “Darker Direction” For ‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’; Will Fit Better With Other Properties

If you’ve been hoping to see the characters of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. make their way over to one of their Netflix properties,  it sounds like their new & darker direction for this season could be opening the door for that. While he does state that there is “Corporate Stuff” currently preventing it, Gregg did comment on who he’d like to meet if he could make his way onto one of the Netflix series.

“Because it was one of my favorite comics as a teen, I would have said Daniel Rand — Iron Fist — but suddenly, there’s a gigantic invisible force field barrier called ‘Corporate’… Corporate Stuff. Unless, who knows, maybe we will develop a weapon that will break through that and get me over to Netflix for a minute. But if that barrier came down, then God knows I’d want go talk to Luke Cage.”

When asked if we would see the series begin to tie further into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, Gregg had the following to say on the matter.

“I love that our show gets to introduce stuff and be its own part of the world, like ‘The Winter Solider’ happens and we get to really get to go into it for 8, 10 hours, what that level of betrayal means. I still think it’s all one big story. I don’t like when it’s just gratuitous crossover.”

Gregg then added that he believes at “some point” the series will “start to cross more” before adding that in their new timeslot “we’re heading in a darker direction, which means it will fit a little bit better with the other properties.” Gregg then joked that there is going to “be lots of crossovers this year with Netflix” before looking dead into the camera and stating that he’s “in trouble” now.
