The latest batch of set photos from Matt Reeves’ The Batman might give fans their first look at Colin Farrell’s Penguin. With filming on The Batman currently underway in London, photos from the set have recently begun arriving online. So far the photos from Matt Reeves’ The Batman have shown off a street level look at Gotham City, with Gotham News vans and Gotham City Police Department cars all crowding the set. The new photos might show off the first look at one of the film’s villains: Colin Farrell’s Penguin.
The photos were posted to Twitter when one fan saw the set outside their office. The photo seemingly shows a blonde haired Colin Farrell holding an umbrella, leading many to assume that it’s the first look at the Penguin in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. If it is Colin Farrell’s Penguin, clearly Matt Reeves is striving for a different take on the character rather than the villain’s stereotypical larger frame. Full plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and features a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as Batman.
Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, Jayme Lawson as Bella, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Peter Sarsgaard. Recently, Colin Farrell was reportedly in talks to play the Penguin.
The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
