‘The Defenders’: Jessica Henwick Says Colleen Wing ‘Explodes’ In Series

Jessica Henwick, the actress who plays Colleen Wing in both Iron Fist as well as the upcoming Marvel Netflix team-up series The Defenders has teased that her character is going to explode when the series debuts on the streaming service later this summer.

During a recent chat with Entertainment Weekly, Henwick was asked about the upcoming series revealed when she revealed when we will pick up with Colleen when we see her in The Defenders. The character was last seen in the Himalayas as her and Danny Rand (Finn Jones) discovered that K’un L’un had vanished:

“We pick up with Colleen not in New York — which is crazy, as all the shows have been predominantly in New York. We find her a month after we left her. It’s really interesting she hasn’t been able to deal with the emotional trauma she dealt with in Iron Fist. So it builds to a head and she explodes in Defenders.”

Henwick also teased that she thinks fans are going to freak out over the different characters interacting in the upcoming series:

“It’s good, it’s really good. I think people are going to love seeing characters interact with each other, they’re going to see Colleen and Misty [Simone Missick], they’re going to love seeing Luke Cage with the Iron Fist, Danny Rand. I think fans are going to freak out.”

The Defenders follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Jessica Jones Krysten Ritter), and Iron Fist as they put their resources together and team-up to take on a villainous Sigourney Weaver whose character Alexandra is still shrouded in mystery.

The biggest clue we have for the plot so far is that it will somehow revolve around the offices at Midland circle, which happens to be where Daredevil and Elektra (Elodie Yung) discovered the massive hole in the ground in season two of Daredevil. 

The series will also see the return of many cast members from the Netflix corner of the MCU including Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, Scott Glenn as Stick, and Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker.

The Defenders hits Netflix August 18.
