Colton Haynes is set to reprise his role as Roy Harper a.k.a. Arsenal on The CW's hit series Arrow for a short arc later this season.

Colton Haynes is officially set to reprise his role as Roy Harper a.k.a. Arsenal on The CW’s hit series Arrow.

The actor who exited his recurring role as the Arrow’s sidekick towards the end of the third season will return for a short arc next year, beginning with the fifteenth episode of the sixth season. Executive producers Marc Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle released a joint statement, revealing the reason for Roy’s return to Star City:

“We’re thrilled to announce that Colton Haynes will be reprising his role as Roy Harper for a short arc on Arrow this year. Roy is called back to Star City to help resolve an urgent matter with high stakes for the team. His short visit turns into something surprising when he reunites with Thea and sparks a change in both of their lives that will have long-lasting consequences.”

Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, Paul Blackthorne as Quentin Lance, Juliana Harkavy as Dinah Drake, Rick Gonzalez as Rene Ramirez, Echo Kellum as Curtis Holt and Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance.

Arrow returns January 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
