Comic-Con At Home Officially Announced For Summer

A virtual version of Comic-Con at Home is currently set for the summer after the cancelation of San Diego Comic-Con 2020.

Given the current state of things with the coronavirus, San Diego Comic-Con 2020 was officially canceled last month. The convention was set for its regular July spot, but it appears it will be taking a new shape this year. On Friday, Comic-Con At Home was announced via Twitter. The upcoming event will take place sometime this summer and will require no badge.

There’s no telling what we can expect as far as news is concerned. Virtual fan conventions are becoming the norm for the time being with Xbox hosting a live-stream for new Series X details and a Star Wars event held earlier this week for May the 4th.  However, the Star Wars virtual convention mostly consisted of watch-alongs and interviews. With so many film and television productions put on-hold, it’s hard to predict if Marvel Studios, Warner Bros, Netflix, and other major studios will join in. A virtual comic-con removed the exclusivity to it all, so the event might not feature any major announcements or footage. However, it’s great to have an event to look forward to and this gives others around the world a chance to be apart of comic-con for the first time.  You can see the Comic-Con At Home announcement that was made on Twitter below!

What are your thoughts on Comic-Con At Home? Do you think any major studios promote any projects at the virtual event? Sound-off in the comments section below!

San Diego Comic-Con may have been canceled this year, but the event is currently expected to return July 22-25, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood and subscribe to our YouTube channel for all the latest news surrounding Comic-Con At Home and other fan conventions!
