Constantine actor Matt Ryan is reprising his role for Justice League Dark. But this won’t be the live-action incarnation of the demon hunter, it’ll be the animated version of him.
NBC cancelled Constantine back in May of 2015 and the character made a one-off appearance on Arrow last year in the episode “Haunted”. The episode tied Constantine into the larger Arrowverse by showing him in flashbacks on the island Oliver Queen was stranded upon for five years. That is where they came to know each other.
Then, in the present, Oliver sought Constantine’s help in order to save White Canary’s life in another realm where her soul was trapped after having been resurrected from the Lazarus Pit.
At New York Comic Con, Matt Ryan was asked about the possibility of returning to Arrow. Ryan was definitely open to it and said that he’s “learned to not rule anything out.” He would return because he “loves the character.”
Justice League Dark will also include the voice talents of Camilla Luddington as Zatanna, Nicholas Turturro as Deadman, Ray Chase as Etrigan the Demon. They will all fight alongside Jason O’Mara’s Batman.
Justice League Dark is directed by Jay Oliva and will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD in 2017.
