Joe and Anthony Russo, the directing duo behind several installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, have been teasing fans on social media for months. First, the directors posted a behind-the-scenes image on Twitter that was recently discovered to be hiding the word “Endgame” within it. Now, another teaser image that featured what appeared to be a blue light has now been revealed to be important to one of the trailer’s heartbreaking moments.
As fans saw in the trailer for Avengers: Endgame, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is adrift through space alongside Nebula (Karen Gillan) but many of the resources on their ship, the Milano, have been depleted and oxygen will only last until the morning. Before he’s gone for good, Tony decides to send one last message to his beloved Pepper Potts (Gwenyth Paltrow). An Eagle-eyed fan on Reddit noticed that this moment holds the answer to one of the cryptic Tweets made by the Russos. Check out the post below to see the answer behind the mysterious image.
That’s right, it turns out that the image was a close-up of the Iron Man visor that Tony uses to send his desperate message. The scene sets up a bleak outcome to the already dark event that Tony and Nebula witnessed on Titan, which was the death of Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Drax (Dave Bautista), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), and Spider-Man (Tom Holland).
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Avengers: Endgame as soon as more information becomes available. How do you think Nebula and Tony will escape the clutches of death in deep space? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
Avengers: Endgame is scheduled to be released in theaters April 26th, 2019.
