No, The CW Is Not Developing An Arrowverse Superman TV Series

The CW is not developing a Superman TV series starring Tyler Hoechlin and the upcoming Elseworlds crossover will not serve as a backdoor pilot.

A report was being floated around this week claiming the upcoming Arrowverse crossover will also serve as a backdoor pilot for a potential Superman series. Editor-in-chief Umberto Gonzalez has learned the report is inaccurate. However, The CW’s Elseworlds crossover will serve as a backdoor pilot for Ruby Rose’s Batwoman.

The upcoming Elseworlds crossover will find Green Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl visiting Gotham City after learning about the machinations of a sinister Arkham Asylum doctor. The event will mark the introduction of Batwoman and the first appearance of Gotham City in the Arrowverse. Superman will also appear in the crossover, with Hoechlin reprising the role from Supergirl, and Grimm star Elizabeth Tulloch will portray Lois Lane in the character’s Arrowverse debut.

The 2018 Elseworlds crossover starts with a special episode of The Flash on Sunday, December 9 and continues with Arrow on Monday, December 10. The three-night event will then conclude with Supergirl on Tuesday, December 11.

All three entries will air at 8:00 p.m. ET on their respective nights.
