With many fans still wondering how the mutants will be introduced alongside the Avengers, this fan art picks Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery as the ideal candidate to replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Montgomery’s Stranger Things co-star Natalia Dyer recently explained that she thinks the delay to production thanks to will actually help the writers behind the series refine the story of the Netflix series. But now that the MCU is moving forward after Disney’s acquisition of Fox, one artist thinks Dacre Montgomery is the perfect actor to become Jackman’s Wolverine successor.
The Power Rangers and Stranger Things star is shown smoking a cigarette in the wilderness with a set of Wolverine’s iconic claws on show. He’s not quite got the long, wild hairstyle that we’re used to seeing Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine with, but it’s still an impressive look. Dacre Montgomery is also wearing a bulky leather jacket with a fur collar, perfectly keeping with Wolverine’s style when he’s not in one of his iconic costumes. The image comes from ‘apexform’ on Instagram and the artist explained the actor has a different build and acting style from Hugh Jackman, which makes him the perfect choice as a new version of the mutant. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed plans to include mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during last year’s San Diego Comic-Con. However, the studio is reportedly in no rush to introduce the X-Men to the MCU, meaning it will likely be some time before we learn who will replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
