‘The Matrix 4’: Daniel Bernhardt To Reprise Agent Johnson Role

Agent Johnson is back to haunt Neo and Trinity in 'The Matrix 4'.

Daniel Bernhardt will reprise his role as Agent Johnson in The Matrix 4 alongside Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss.

It seems the agents aren’t done with Neo and Trinity in The Matrix 4, since Daniel Bernhardt is returning to the franchise to reprise the role of Agent Johnson in the sequel from Lana Wachowski. Bernhardt joins newcomers Abdul Yahya-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff and Neil Patrick Harris in the film, although it’s not yet clear what capacity we’ll see Agent Johnson return in. Harris recently revealed that The Matrix 4 has moved on from the original trilogy, so it’ll be interesting to see how that affects the returning heroes and villains.

Daniel Bernhardt was last seen in The Matrix Reloaded and fought Neo with vicious speed. Fans will also have seen him in Atomic Blonde and the John Wick series. The Matrix 4 recently resumed production after a lengthy delay due to the ongoing pandemic and many fans are intrigued to see where the franchise is heading. But after Hugo Weaving revealed that he won’t return as Agent Smith for The Matrix 4, it’s easy to assume that Daniel Bernhardt’s Agent Johnson might fill the role intended for Weaving.

What do you make of the news that Daniel Bernhardt is returning as Agent Johnson in The Matrix 4? Is this to replace Hugo Weaving? Are you excited to see Daniel Bernhardt in the sequel? Sound-off in the comments below!

The Matrix and its two sequels collectively earned a total of $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss portrayed Neo and Trinity, respectively, in all three chapters of the film series, each of which were directed by Lana and Lilly Wachowski.

Directed by Lana Wachowski from a script she co-wrote with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchel, the upcoming sequel, The Matrix 4 stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Toby Onwumere, Eréndira Ibarra, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Priyanka Chopra, Andrew Caldwell, and Brian J. Smith.

The Matrix 4 is currently set to hit theaters on April 1, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Keanu Reeves’ upcoming film and Daniel Bernhardt and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
