During a recent interview with GQ, Daniel Radcliffe took the internet to respond directly to fan questions, one of which asked whether or not the actor would have made for a good Spider-Man. The Harry Potter actor previously revealed while promoting Swiss Amry Man that he would have loved to take on the role of Spider-Man but was happy the job had gone to Tom Holland who currently portrays the web-slinger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Daniel Radcliffe has now directly responded to the question of whether or not he would make a good Spider-Man to which the actor said yes, however, he didn’t mean in the films:
“Yes. I would have made a very good Spider-Man. Not in the films. I just mean in real life, were I granted those powers.”
While the role of Spider-Man is currently spoken for, as Tom Holland is set to appear as the web-slinger this year in both Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, the internet has been buzzing with hope for Daniel Radcliffe to replace Hugh Jackman as the next Wolverine after the actor recently joked that new movie would feature Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine going into a hotwash and out would come himself as the new version of the clawed mutant hero.
Wolverine’s future on the big screen is uncertain as Hugh Jackman gave his final performance as the Marvel superhero in the critically-acclaimed film Logan back in 2017 after seventeen years of playing the character. With the looming Disney-Fox merger on the horizon, veteran X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner revealed we could be seeing a new Wolverine sooner rather than later as she confirmed Marvel Studios president is currently searching for a new actor to play Wolverine and also admitted she feels younger actor should be cast given the level of physicality required to play the character for years to come, leaving hope for Daniel Radcliffe. Recent rumors suggest Disney may be considering an X-Men series Disney+, their upcoming direct to consumer streaming service which is expected to launch by the end of 2019.
But what do you think? Would Daniel Radcliffe make for a better Spider-Man or Wolverine? Let us know in the comments below!
As for Spider-Man himself, plot details are still under wraps, however, the web-crawlers next adventure will feature Peter Parker (Tom Holland) as he joins his friends on a summer vacation in Europe and stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio. Introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #13, best incarnation of Mysterio is a special effects wizard named Quentin Beck and the character has been a frequent foe for the web-head since his debut.
Directed by Jon Watts, the film stars Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, Numan Acar, J.B. Smoove, Oli Hill, Remy Hii, Marisa Tomei Michael Keaton, Cobie Smulders, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
Spider-Man: Far From Home will be released in theaters on July 5, 2019. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we learn it.
