Rutberg, who played Marci Stahl in the series explained the nature of the Netflix contract following the surprise cancellation of the acclaimed Marvel series:
“There is this very real contract with Netflix. I had heard 18 months, maybe it’s 2 years. I suppose it’s possible that Marvel could buy them out, but I have not heard so much as a whisper.”
Marvel fans remain concerned about the future of all the exclusive Marvel content on Netflix. So far, Jessica Jones and The Punisher are the only series still alive. However, with the other three series (particularly Daredevil) now cancelled at the streaming giant, it seems likely that the next two seasons of those respective series mentioned may be their last.
Hopefully, Marvel will have something announced soon about these beloved characters and their uncertain future beyond Netflix as the television branch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to make some changes.
Daredevil season 3 stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Wilson Bethel, Jay Ali, and Lesley Ann Warren.
Missing for months, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) reemerges a broken man, putting into question his future as both vigilante Daredevil and lawyer Matthew Murdock. But when his archenemy Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is released from prison, Matt must choose between hiding from the world, or embracing his destiny as a hero.
Daredevil Season 3 is now streaming on Netflix.
Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the Netflix corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we learn it.
