Batman Actor Ben Affleck Says ‘Daredevil’ Film Was ‘Kinda Silly’

In the documentary Cinemability: The Art of Inclusion, Batman actor Ben Affleck addressed his work on 2003’s Daredevil and acknowledged the film’s shortcomings.

Few need to be reminded that Ben Affleck portrayed Daredevil long before his time as Batman in Warner Bros.’ DC Extended Universe franchise. However, while even some detractors of the current DCEU films consider Affleck’s take on the Caped Crusader to be one of the better aspects of the series, defenders of Daredevil are arguably harder to come by. Now, Ben Affleck has discussed his experience working on the film and the effort he put into respectfully portraying a blind character with the help of blind performer Tom Sullivan:

“He was really patient with me and really helped me understand something that I though was really interesting, artistically. I thought that was the most interesting thing about the movie, frankly. A lot of the other stuff in the movie was kinda silly.”

While Ben Affleck’s future as Batman remains unclear, at best, the Man Without Fear is set to return in the third season of Marvel & Netflix’s Daredevil.

Missing for months, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) reemerges a broken man, putting into question his future as both vigilante Daredevil and lawyer Matthew Murdock. But when his archenemy Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is released from prison, Matt must choose between hiding from the world, or embracing his destiny as a hero.

Daredevil season 3 stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Wilson Bethel, Jay Ali, and Lesley Ann Warren.

Daredevil season 3 will be released on October 19, 2018, on Netflix.
