Original ‘Daredevil’ Showrunner Responds To Series Cancelation

Daredevil season 1 showrunner Steven S. DeKnight had some kind words to say about the series upon its cancelation.

Marvel’s Daredevil has been officially canceled at Netflix. The news arrived around a month after Luke Cage and Iron Fist were both canceled, leaving The Punisher season 2 and Jessica Jones season 3 as the only two Marvel Netflix series planned for release in the future. Steven S. DeKnight, who recently helmed Pacific Rim: Uprising, was the showrunner of the first season of Daredevil.

Following the news that the show had been canceled, DeKnight posted a short, heartfelt response regarding his time on the series via Twitter. Check out what DeKnight had to say about the cancelation in the post below.

Ever since the first season of the series, Daredevil has had new showrunners each season. Drew Goddard was originally supposed to oversee the first season of the series before DeKnight took over. For season 2, DeKnight left and was replaced by Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez. Once again, season 3 found a brand new showrunner in Erik Oleson, who did reveal that he had pitched a fourth season of the series to Netflix.

Missing for months, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) reemerges a broken man, putting into question his future as both vigilante Daredevil and lawyer Matthew Murdock. But when his archenemy Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is released from prison, Matt must choose between hiding from the world, or embracing his destiny as a hero.

Daredevil season 3 stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Wilson Bethel, Jay Ali, and Lesley Ann Warren.

Daredevil season 3 is currently available to stream on Netflix.
