Long before the Daredevil series launched on Netflix, the titular Marvel hero appeared in a critically panned film starring Ben Affleck as the Man Without Fear. However, while Charlie Cox is among those who don’t think the film worked, he did express his admiration for Ben Affleck’s performance as Matt Murdock:
“Going into the job, I had never read a Daredevil comic. When I watched the film I had two feelings. One – I thought Ben Affleck did a great job. I really liked his Matt Murdock. It was in keeping with the characters in the comics. The problem with the film was that the best Daredevil runs in print are geared toward a slightly more mature audience. He’s not Spider-Man… not really a teenage superhero. That’s where the film didn’t quite work – it was a little too, dare I say, comic book-y for that character.”
