Earlier this week, Dave Bautista expressed his interest in playing Batman villain Clayface in response to a fan who proposed the idea on social media. In his reply to a story on his comment, Dave Bautista added that he loves comic book characters and wants to star in a standalone film one day.
However, Dave Bautista also noted that he missed out a DC project due to scheduling conflicts but did not specify which project in his statement. Of course, many suspect Dave Bautista could be referring to James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad considering the actor confirmed he had conversations with Gunn on the matter earlier this year.
Check out the post below to read Dave Bautista’s full comment on the DC project he passed on.
Dave Bautista and James Gunn previously collaborated on Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel, but production on the third chapter of the film series was delayed because Disney only reversed its decision to fire Gunn after the director had already signed on to write and helm DC’s The Suicide Squad.
The first Suicide Squad followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as The Joker. James Gunn is expected to deliver on the fresh take on the supervillain team in his upcoming movie, with Idris Elba playing a new character, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, Flula Borg, Taika Waititi, and Viola Davis returning as Amanda Waller.
James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is one of many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern Corps, Birds of Prey, Black Adam, Nightwing, Supergirl and New Gods.
James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters on August 6, 2021.
