‘Suicide Squad’ Director David Ayer Comments On Reshoots

The third chapter of the DC Extended Universe will be coming to us this fall as Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) assembles Task Force X in Suicide Squad featuring some of DC Comics’ toughest villains like Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and more.

Following the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it was reported that Suicide Squad was undergoing reshoots because the studios wanted the film to have a brighter tone, something that has been a common criticism for the Batman/Superman film. However, the reshoots doesn’t seem to have anything to do with adding more humor to the film as the film’s director, David Ayer, took it to Twitter to comment on those recent reports. According to his statement, it’s to add more action as he says the following:

He isn’t the only one to share that feeling as Boomerang himself, Courtney, recently said in an interview that their reason for reshooting was because they were adding more action to it.

“I think there’s plenty of [humor] in it. I wouldn’t say we’re going back to make it funnier, there’s some additional action stuff that we’ve been doing, which is pretty dope. Really we’re just kind of adding in that sense.”

In case you missed it, the new “Blitz” trailer that came out last night along with the official synopsis for the film.

Suicide Squad comes out in theaters on August 5.
