Like Justice League, Suicide Squad was a film that had a lot of behind the scenes issues. Many changes were made to the film during its post-production phase and the end result was a film that was panned by critics and met with a mixed reception from fans. Yesterday, however, Zack Snyder announced that a new version of Justice League would be available on HBO Max. Later that day, director David Ayer sent out a cryptic Tweet that some fans interpreted as him teasing a new cut of Suicide Squad.
Earlier today, David Ayer fully addressed the possibility of an alternative cut of Suicide Squad being released. While he didn’t confirm or deny that it might happen, he did say it was not his call and that his cut of the film may always be a rumor but he had made his peace with it:
What do you all make of David Ayer’s recent Tweets? Are you hoping to see an alternative cut of the film? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
The first Suicide Squad followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as The Joker. However, James Gunn is expected to deliver on the fresh take on the Suicide Squad in his upcoming movie.
Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad stars David Dastmalchian, John Cena, Jai Courtney, Joaquín Cosío, Nathan Fillion, Joel Kinnaman, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, and Michael Rooker.
The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters on August 6, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on David Ayer and The Suicide Squad and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more great video content!
