David Harbour Teases His ‘Hellboy’ Is A ‘Killer’; Plus New Image Released

Looking back 14 years to 2004’s Hellboy, Ron Perlman’s iteration of the titular gruff but good-hearted demon-slayer didn’t cause too much bloodshed, especially for that film’s PG-13 rating. With the upcoming R-rated reboot, we can certainly expect much more of that, in addition to a more violent and destructive Hellboy, David Harbour revealed to Empire:

“There’s really a sense that you’re actually killing things, even if they are giants or monsters. You’re chopping their heads off, you’re bathing in their blood and you’re feeling the complex feelings of actually cutting the heart out of another thing. We’re taking the time to deal with the fact that Hellboy is a killer. He’s a weapon.”

Well, that should certainly make for a different perspective from the original film. In addition, Empire has released a new image from the film showing Harbour’s Hellboy in what looks to be a confrontation with his adoptive father Trevor Bruttenholm (Ian McShane).

What do you think of Harbour’s quotes? Are you excited for Hellboy?

Based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola, Hellboy, caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge.

Directed by Neil Marshall from a script co-written by character creator Mike Mignola, Andrew Cosby, and Christopher Golden, Hellboy stars David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, Daniel Dae Kim, and Sasha Lane.

Hellboy will be released in theaters on April 12, 2019.
