After serving as DC Comics’ VP editorial and then VP executive editor for six years, Dan DiDio became a co-publisher at the company alongside Jim Lee in 2010. During Dan DiDio’s tenure at co-publisher, he was one of the key players in DC Comics’ 2011 relaunch of its titles under “The New 52” banner.
While “The New 52” relaunch was initially a success, the eventual drop in sales resulted in DC Comics moving forward with another line-wide relaunch called “DC Universe Rebirth”. Additional initiatives overseen by Dan DiDio during his time as DC Comics’ co-publisher include titles and stories such as Infinite Crisis, Before Watchmen, and Doomsday Clock.
As of now, DC Comics has not issued a statement on Dan DiDio’s exit. News of Dan DiDio’s exit from comes ahead of a planned announcement regarding another relaunch of the DC Comics Universe that will restore elements from “The New 52” reboot. However, THR notes that it currently unclear if Dan DiDio’s exit will delay or cancel DC Comics’ plans for the relaunch.
