DC Universe’s ‘Stargirl’ Will Feature A 15 Foot S.T.R.I.P.E.

According to Geoff Johns at New York Comic-Con, DC Universe’s upcoming Stargirl series will feature a 15-foot S.T.R.I.P.E.

At Thursday’s DC Universe New York Comic Con panel, the Stargirl writer and executive producer revealed the upcoming series will feature a 15-foot S.T.R.I.P.E. Johns has said that the series will feature a new incarnation of the Justice Society of America member.

In the comics, S.T.R.I.P.E.’s real name is Patrick Dugan and is the Stepfather of Courtney Whitemore. Before Dugan became S.T.R.I.P.E., he was the costumed hero Stripesy. When Courtney discovers a Cosmic Converter Belt, which belonged to Star-Spangled Kid, and that her father was a hero, she becomes the second Star-Spangled Kid. In order to protect Courtney, Dugan develops robot armor and calls it S.T.R.I.P.E. (Special Tactics Robotic Integrated Power Enhancer).

Actress Brec Bassinger will portray lead hero Courtney Whitemore and Geoff Johns will write and executive produce the 13-episode first season of Stargirl. Sarah Schechter and Arrowverse boss Greg Berlanti will also serve as executive producers on the series.

High school sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new DC Universe series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a fun, exciting and unpredictable series premiering in 2019, produced by Warner Bros. Television, Mad Ghost Productions and Berlanti Productions.

Stargirl is scheduled to debut on DC Universe in August 2019.
