The director of Deadpool 2 won't confirm who will play Cable, but he did confirm that Brad Pitt will not be playing the character.
While it was already suggested that Brad Pitt was out of the running for a role as Cable in Deadpool 2, there were talks that there were still chances that the actor would change his mind. Kiss those chances goodbye, because it’s just been confirmed that he will not be taking the role.
At CinemaCon, Deadpool 2 director David Leitch confirmed one thing about the sequel – that Brad Pitt’s name won’t be on the billing. It didn’t sound as though there was a falling out between the director and the actor, as the split seems to be amicable in nature:
“We had a great meeting with Brad, he was incredibly interested in the property. Things didn’t work out schedule-wise. He’s a fan, and we love him, and I think he would’ve made an amazing Cable.”
Brad Pitt was far and away the biggest name on the list of contenders for the role, and some concept art that helped visualize what Pitt would have looked like as the character found its way online not too long ago. In any case, the competition for the role of Cable just got thinner, even if it looks like the casting process is still going to take a while. The other rumored front-runners for the role of Cable include the likes of Liam Neeson, Michael Shannon, Stephen Lang, David Harbour, Russell Crowe, and Pierce Brosnan.
Deadpool 2, X-Force, and Deadpool 3 do not have release dates, but will be released in that order.
