A Wolverine cameo might not be possible anymore, but THR reporter Aaron Crouch shared his own idea for a Hugh Jackman cameo to the "Deadpool 2" writers.
We already know that Hugh Jackman must exist as himself in some way in Deadpool’s universe since Wade staples Jackman’s face onto his own at the end of the movie. In an interview with Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese about their newest film, Life, THR reporter Aaron Crouch pitched the screenwriters his own idea for having Jackman appear without breaking his retirement promise. The idea was essentially to have Jackman appear as himself in the movie. Not only would this be hilarious on its own, but it would give a ton for Wade to talk about since he breaks the fourth wall so often.
While it’s possible (perhaps probable) that nothing comes of this, Rhett Reese at least humored Crouch with his response:
“I like that. Deadpool lives in a world where Hugh Jackman is out there. He’s got the People’s Sexiest Man Alive cover that he staples to his forehead in the first movie, so maybe he could meet Hugh as Hugh. That would be really funny.”
Regardless of the idea, it will come down to whether or not Jackman will want to make the cameo. I think it probably would be an easy post-credit scene that doesn’t require much time, but who knows how difficult that might actually be. Do you think that this sounds like a good compromise between the two parties? Let us know in the comments and come back to Heroic Hollywood for more Deadpool news.
Deadpool 2 is currently set to release on January 12, 2018.
