Hugh Jackman has said again, and again, and again that he’s hung up his claws as Logan after playing Wolverine for the past 17 years in the X-Men films. He went out on the highest note possible with James Mangold’s Logan last year, not to mention that he died at the end of the movie. Still, it seems that everyone else in the world, especially Ryan Reynolds, hopes to see Jackman release the claws just one more time. More specifically in the upcoming X-Force film.
While there’s no telling just yet who outside of Deadpool, Cable, and Domino will make up the roster in Drew Goddard’s upcoming X-Force film, Reynolds has made repeated attempts to convince Jackman to return for X-Force. And sure, we saw Jackman’s Wolverine in Deadpool 2, but that was just footage from the film and done with Jackman’s permission. But if there’s one person who may want Hugh Jackman back for X-Force more than Reynolds, it’s the man behind the Merc with the Mouth himself — Rob Liefeld.
Liefeld recently sat down with Nerdist and, among other things discussed, explained that he is one of those who wants to see Jackman reprise his role again for X-Force. You can see Liefeld express his hope for Hugh Jackman’s return in the video below at the 2:19 mark.
Liefeld also referenced a letter he wrote on his Instagram that he addressed to Hugh Jackman to express his hope that everyone’s favorite Logan would stand shoulder-to-shoulder, sort of, with Reynolds’ Deadpool. Here, have a look.
Not to mention Liefeld believes the audience reaction would be like nothing before if the two appeared on screen together. As is, though, Jackman looks to have put Wolverine behind him for the moment. And while we’ll have to wait and see what becomes of the X-Force film, you can guarantee that many will still hope to see Jackman pop the claws once more.
What do you think, though? Would you want to see Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and the rest of the team in Drew Goddard’s X-Force film? Let us know in the comments below.
