‘Deadpool’ Surpasses Both ‘Iron Man’ & ‘Man Of Steel’ At The Domestic Box Office

Another weekend means another big accomplishment for 20th Centry Fox’s Deadpool. The film, which many initially doubted, has surpassed expectations and gone on to become the highest grossing first entry in a superhero franchise to date at the domestic box office right behind Guardians Of The Galaxy & Spider-Man. This weekend the film hit $328 million at the north American box office which has pushed it past both Marvel Studios’ Iron Man ($318 million) and Warner Bros. Man Of Steel ($291 million).

It’s also expected that Deadpool will surpass Guardians Of The Galaxy sometime next week. Pretty impressive considering this was an R-Rated film featuring no 3D release, huh? It just really goes to show just how strong word of mouth can be when it comes to these types of releases. You can either sink like Fantastic Four or swim for quite some time like Deadpool. How many times have you seen it? Are you going to be going again? Sound off with your thoughts on this news in the comments section below.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
