Producers Simon Kinberg, Ryan Reynolds and Lauren Shuler Donner share the nomination and face competition from films such as Arrival, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Hidden Figures, La La Land, Lion, Manchester by the Sea and Moonlight.
The nomination is just the latest in a series of accolades for the film, including Golden Globe, Writers Guild Award, and Critics Choice Awards nominations. The film would go on to win two Critics Choice Awards.
The ceremony will be held on January 28, 2017 at the Beverly Hilton hotel.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Directed by Tim Miller, the film stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand and Stefan Kapi?i?.
A sequel is currently scheduled to be released on January 12, 2018.
