With control of the X-Men franchise now under Marvel Studios’ control following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, fans are eager to see what the company has planned for Storm and the rest of the X-Men in the MCU. However, before the mutants could join the MCU, future Deadpool star Zazie Beetz auditioned for the role of Storm in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: Apocolypse.
Of course, the role of Storm eventually went to Alexandra Shipp and Zazie Beetz was later cast as Domino in Deadpool 2. However, Zazie Beetz revealed that she would still be willing to play Storm in the MCU’s X-Men projects provided the script was good enough:
“Yeah, I think I would be down. I guess obviously it depends on the script and it depends on if I think it’s a good script. I think it would be super fun to do that. Storm also essentially is such an iconic character. I mean it would be kind of big shoes to fill, I think. I wouldn’t want to confuse audiences too much and be all over the place and now I’m doing DC as well. I think it would be super fun. I think it would be a dope opportunity.”
Do you think Zazie Beetz would be a good choice for the role of Strom in the MCU’s X-Men? Would you be against it if Zazie Beetz couldn’t play Domino in a Deadpool sequel? Let us know your know thoughts on Deadpool star Zazie Beetz’s MCU future below!
Deadpool’s cinematic future remains unclear for the time being following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. However, Ryan Reynolds recently teased a meeting with Marvel Studios, suggesting both parties are discussing potential plans for future Deadpool films.
Marvel Studios confirmed plans to include mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during its 2019 San Diego Comic-Con panel. However, the studio is reportedly in no rush to introduce the X-Men to the MCU, meaning it will likely be some time before we learn who will play Storm if the character is part of those plans.
