‘Shang-Chi’ Director Destin Daniel Cretton Shares Photo As Filming Wraps

Shang-Chi is now in post-production!

Destin Daniel Cretton has announced that Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings has wrapped filming.

Shooting for Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings began back in February before production on the Marvel Studios project was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. Filming resumed in August and now director Destin Daniel Cretton has revealed that the Simu Liu starrer has wrapped.

Destin Daniel Cretton took to his official Instagram page to share a photo from the set of Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings, confirming that the Marvel Studios project is done filming. The photo features Cretton alongside his wife Nikki Chapman and his sister Joy, as well as Chinese actress Zhang Meng. Check it out below.

Introduced in Special Marvel Edition #15 in December 1973, Shang-Chi is a skilled martial artist who was raised in an isolated compound located in China and trained by his father Fu Manchu, a Chinese crimelord and immortal sorcerer who repeatedly attempted to conquer the world. When Shang-Chi was finally allowed to venture into the outside world to do his father’s bidding, he learned about his father’s evil ways and faked his own death before embarking on a mission to take down Fu Manchu’s criminal empire.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script written by David Callaham, Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Tony Leung, and Ronny Chieng. The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2021.
