The new sneak peek was released tonight during the 2019 NFC Championship game between the Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints, offering a new look at the film which Ryan Reynolds voiced the titular Pokemon on.
The story follows Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) when his father is kidnapped, leading to his team-up with Pikachu in order to find him. Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) has directed the Pokemon film from a script written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of The Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls).

Here is the official synopsis for the upcoming film:
A young man joins forces with Detective Pikachu to unravel the mystery behind his father’s disappearance. Chasing clues through the streets of Ryme City, the dynamic duo soon discover a devious plot that poses a threat to the Pokémon universe.
Directed by Rob Letterman, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu stars Ryan Reynolds, Justice Smith, Paul Kitson, Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe, Karan Soni, Bill Nighy, Suki Waterhouse, Chris Geere, Rita Ora, and Omar Chaparro. The film hails from Legendary Entertainment and The Pokemon Company. Universal Pictures will be distributing the film in regions outside of Japan, where long-time Pokemon film collaborator Toho will handle distribution duties.
