The Secret Villain In ‘Detective Pikachu’ May Have Been Revealed

We may have finally uncovered the identity of the big baddie in the upcoming Pokémon film Detective Pikachu.

According to WeGotThisCovered, the foe for Pikachu and his friends is none other than the superpowered creature Mewtwo. The most powerful psychic Pokémon in the video game series seems to be revealed as the antagonist behind the mystery Ryan Reynolds’ Detective Pikachu will be solving. Nonetheless, we still don’t know if Mewtwo is being handled by some shady organization or if he’s acting on his own.

For those who don’t know, Mewtwo was a product of an experiment conducted by the villainous Team Rocket to re-create the first known legendary Pokémon, Mew. Mewtwo became brutal in nature after finding out that he was a failed attempt at replacing Mew, Mewtwo was the first Pokémon to be considered evil. Which is a lot different from Mew who’s also very powerful but sweet in nature. Needless to say, Mewtwo is one of the strongest Pokémon ever.

Mewtwo was the villain in Pokémon’s first animated cinematic outing, Pokémon The First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back. In the film, the TV series hero Ash Ketchum and his friends are engaged by Mewtwo because he believes that humans only use Pokémon to battle each other with no regards of their feelings. If you were a Pokémon fan as a child, you may know that Ash proves him wrong in a highly sentimental climax that made us all shed a tear or two.
