‘Get Out’ Director Jordan Peele Working On New Original Thriller

Director Jordan Peele, fresh off of the massive overperformance of Get Out, is developing a new, original concept for a thriller movie.

Jordan Peele has just proven that he’s more than just the latter half of the Key & Peele comedy act when he directed the universally-acclaimed horror-comedy thriller Get Out. Now, he’s laying the foundation for his next movie – another thriller that’s not based on any existing property.

According to Screen Rant, Universal Pictures will be producing Peele’s next script – another thriller – which is currently in active development. Peele is taking his time on the project to make sure that it’s just right, as it’s meant to continue Get Out‘s trend of focusing heavily on racial issues through a Twilight Zone-type narrative. In addition, Universal’s chairwoman Donna Langley issued the following statement regarding the partnership between Peele (who is “thrilled” to be working with Universal) and the company, which will apparently last well beyond his next movie:

“Through extraordinary imagination and fearless humor, Jordan has proven himself to be a game-changer who is driven to tell stories that are as commercially entertaining as they are disruptive and provocative. The entire Universal family takes great pride in his incomparable filmmaking debut, and feel fortunate that this studio will be Jordan’s home for many years to come.”

The next movie is likely to follow Get Out‘s example by operating on a very small budget, as Jason Blum and his production company Blumhouse Pictures are apparently involved with the next film.

Get Out is still in theaters.
