‘Star Wars’: Disney CEO Bob Iger Has Seen ‘The Last Jedi’

On an investors call today, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that he has already seen an early cut of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Footage from the next installment in the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: The Last Jedi began being piped into editing bays last August. Legendary composer John Williams began recording the score in December, with additional recording sessions scheduled on and off up until March or April.

On an investors call today Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that he has already seen an early cut of the film, calling it “a great next chapter in the iconic Skywalker family saga.” With an early cut already in order, it seems the film will be complete well before its Holiday 2017 release.

Not much about the plot for The Last Jedi is known at this point other than it will pick up directly where The Force Awakens. The film’s director Rian Johnson recently shared new details that the film will dig deeper into the characters than Episode VII and that The Last Jedi will also focus on how Luke (Mark Hamil) and Rey (Daisy Ridley) relate to one another.

In a recent interview with Larry King, Adam Driver told fans they can look forward to seeing Kylo Ren’s humanity explored in The Last Jedi.

The film also stars Carrie Fisher, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, Kelly Marie Tran, and Andy Serkis.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters December 15, 2017.
