Disney Officially Delays D23 Expo Until September 2022

The fan event will return September 9-11, 2022.

Disney has officially delayed the next D23 expo until 2022.

The Coronavirus pandemic has had an effect on almost every major convention this year, so in an unsurprising move Disney has delayed another one of their conventions. The D23 Expo has been delayed two years and will now happen on September 9-11, 2022. Disney released an official statement on the delay that you can read below.

The move pushes the event to a special occasion as 2022 is the 100th anniversary of Disney. In the statement Disney, reveals that D23 Expo 2022 is going to be a celebration unlike any other and I imagine that there will be a ton of surprises in store for fans.

In the meantime, the second season of The Mandalorian is currently set to premiere on October 30th. The Disney Plus series recently scored 15 Emmy nominations, including outstanding drama series and visual effects.

Here is the official synopsis for The Mandalorian season one:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, and Nick Nolte. The Star Wars series was written by Jon Favreau, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist is also on board as a co-executive producer.
