Disney/20th Century Fox Merger Brings Fox 2000 To A Close

Disney’s exciting merger with 20th Century Fox has seen the loss of the Fox 2000 label.

20th Century Fox and Disney have officially closed their deal, meaning that many exciting properties are now owned by Disney. With those exciting gains though comes quite a bit of loss. Fox 2000, a film label under 20th Century Fox that saw the release of many smaller budgeted films, will, unfortunately, be shutting its doors.

The report comes from Deadline, who also reported that it isn’t clear what will happen to the staff of Fox 2000 at this moment. Fox 20oo brought many critically-beloved films to the big screen such as Hidden Figures, The Hate U Give, and Love, Simon. According to the report, Disney’s closure of the famous 20th Century Fox film label was seen as a shock and the staff were not given notice in advanced.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Disney’s merger with 20th Century Fox as soon as more information becomes available. The latest installment of 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise is Dark Phoenix. Check out the film’s synopsis below:

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is directed by Simon Kinberg and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.

“In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.”

The film is set to hit theaters on June 7, 2019.
