Disney+ Will Be A Part Of Future Marvel Studios Plans, Says Kevin Feige

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently spoke to Variety about the last 10 years at the helm of the biggest superhero franchise, its massive success, the Oscars and Disney+ looming in the foreseeable future.

Over the last few months it was reported that Marvel will take some of their big screen characters and give them limited series on Disney’s upcoming streaming service. During a recent interview with Variety’s Kris Tapley, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige mentioned the role that Disney+ will play in the future by explaining that the platform is a space where the studio can actually show more of the thousands of characters from Marvel Comics.

“Disney+ is another exciting thing about being at this place right now. And goes back to the amount of characters that we have and the amount of stories that we could tell. People ask us “What about this character or that one?”. In movies we have a ceratin amount of slots to do that. But with this platform we now have more possibilities of showing other characters and telling other stories. Which is very unique and special.”

Another interesting part of the interview was when he was asked about bringing in the FOX-owned characters into the MCU and that they were looking into the deal being struck sometime next year:

“We’ve been told it’s looking very, very good and could happen in the first six months of next year. The notion of the characters coming back is great. It’s nice when a company that created all these characters can have access to all those characters. It’s unusual not to. But in terms of actually thinking about it and actually planning things, we haven’t started that yet.”

Marvel Studios is yet to announce their next “Phase” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as they did 4 years ago with the Phase 3 slate that will finish with Avengers: Endgame. Spider-Man: Far From Home is set to be the first film of Phase 4.
