A live-action Star Wars television series is finally in development and is set to launch on Disney's upcoming streaming service.
Disney’s Bob Iger broke the news during the company’s quarterly earnings call and revealed that the streaming service is also going to be the home of another original series from Marvel along with TV adaptations of Monsters, Inc. and High School Musical. Bob Iger said the following to say while making the announcement:
“Our advantage as a company is to take advantages that exist out there for good television and take advantage of it.”
The company announced its plans to launch a streaming this past August and revealed that it would be pulling all of its movies (from Marvel to Lucasfilm to Pixar projects) from Netflix by the end of 2019. At the time, Iger called the new endeavor “a strategic shift in the way we distribute our content.”
