Disney Plus Seemingly Pulls ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Out Of The MCU

A new Disney Plus listing has seemingly confirmed that Agents of SHIELD has been pulled out of the MCU.

When it first arrived on TV after The Avengers, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD was marketed as existing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside the rest of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. However as the years went by and the divide between Marvel Television and Marvel Studios grew wider, it became very clear that Agents of SHIELD didn’t seem to exist within the MCU as most audiences know it. And now a new Disney Plus listing has seemingly pulled the show out of the MCU completely.

As pointed out by The Direct, Disney Plus has started putting a number of properties like 2005’s Fantastic Four, Inhumans and Agents of SHIELD into a category called Marvel Legacy Movies and Series. The ‘Legacy’ category has only previously included projects completely outside of the MCU like classic shows or the X-Men movies. So for Agents of SHIELD to be included in it seems to indicate what Marvel Studios thinks of the show in regards to its connection to the MCU. For now the category is only available via Disney Plus Brazil (as seen below) but it’s an interesting move.
