Ahead of its premiere this fall, Disney XD has officially announced that Big Hero 6: The Series has been renewed for a second season.
The upcoming series is based on the Oscar-winning animated feature of the same name and is being executive produced by Mark McCorkle, Bob Schooley and Nick Filippi, with the latter also serving as a supervising director.
In a statement, Disney XD’s Senior VP of Programming and General Manager Marc Buhaj had the following to say about the news:
“Mark, Bob and Nick have delivered a dynamic adventure series that follows the Big Hero 6 superhero team, led by audience favorites Hiro and Baymax. We are honored to have the opportunity to further expand the elaborate world and engaging characters of Big Hero 6: The Series with this early second-season order.”
Big Hero 6: The Series features the voice talents of Ryan Potter as Hiro, Scott Adsit as Baymax, Jamie Chung as Go Go, Genesis Rodriguez as Honey Lemon, Maya Rudolph as Aunt Cass and Stan Lee as Fred’s dad, with Khary Payton replacing Damon Wayans Jr. as Wasabi and Brooks Wheelan as Fred, taking over from T.J. Miller.
Alan Tudyk and David Shaughnessy are also returning as Alistair Krei and Heathcliff, respectively. Newcomers include Andrew Scott, Jenifer Lewis, Andy Richter, Diedrich Bader, Susan Sullivan, Sean Giambrone, John Ross Bowie and Haley Tju.
