‘Shazam!’ Concept Art Spotlights D.J. Cotrona’s Superhero Suit

A brand new piece of concept art from Shazam! gives us an early look at DJ Cotrona’s superhero suit.

Shazam! hit theaters in April 2018 and was met with critical and commercial acclaim. For fans, Shazam! was a breath of fresh air due to its humble, kind-spirited nature and emphasis on family. Of course, during the climax of the Shazam! movie, Billy Batson and his family were turned into powerful heroes to bring down the villainous Doctor Sivana and the Seven Deadly Sins. One of the biggest standouts from the finale of Shazam! was DJ Cotrona’s superhero, who was the older incarnation of Pedro.

Jerad S. Merantz, one of the industry’s leading concept artists, has shared an early look at DJ Cotrona’s suit for the Shazam! movie. The early concept art for DJ Cotrona’s suit isn’t too different from the one seen in Shazam! but it’s still always cool to see what some of our favorite suits looked like in the early days. You can check out DJ Cotrona’s early suit from Shazam! below. Be sure to swipe right so you can see all of the DJ Cotrona concept art.

Now that some time has passed since the release of the movie, we can expect tons more concept art and behind-the-scenes info. A sequel for Shazam! is slated to hit theatres in two years time, and it’s expected to focus more on the Shazam family, which means we’ll likely be seeing a lot more of DJ Cotrona. That being said, nothing has been confirmed regarding DJ Cotrona’s involvement in Shazam! 2.

Here is the synopsis for the DJ Cotrona’s Shazam!:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong).

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, DJ Cotrona, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.

Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for all the lasted news surrounding DJ Cotrona.
