RUMOR: Benedict Cumberbatch’s ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Could Hit Theaters In 2020

According to a report by Deadline, Marvel Studios’ is rumored to officially announce the release year for a sequel to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange after Avengers: Endgame opens.

This week, Disney unveiled sneak previews of its upcoming projects at CinemaCon 2019 but Marvel Studios’ slate for 2020 was not revealed during the presentation. However, rumor has it Marvel Studios’ will announce its 2020 slate after the release of Avengers: Endgame and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange 2 will be included in the line-up.

While Benedict Cumberbatch’ Doctor Strange was one of the heroes who were erased from existence by Thanos’ decimation in Infinity War, the actor will reprise his role for the sequel to the future Sorcerer Supreme’s standalone film. Doctor Strange co-stars Rachel McAdams and Benedict Wong are expected to reprise their roles as well. Director Scott Derrickson will also return to helm the Doctor Strange sequel.

Avengers: Endgame will be released in theaters on April 26, 2019.
