New ‘Doctor Strange’ Concept Art Reveals Alternate Costume Design

Marvel Studios visual development supervisor and concept artist Andy Park has shared a new concept illustration from 'Doctor Strange'.

Marvel’s Doctor Strange introduced new concepts and worlds to the Marvel Cinematic Universe that dazzled and mystified audiences. Of course, with a character as unique as the Sorcerer Supreme, it is expected that bringing the character to the big screen would be a continuously developing project before the creative minds on the film would settle on any final decisions. Now, Marvel Studios visual development supervisor and concept artist Andy Park has shared a concept illustration, offering fans a look at an alternate costume design for the titular hero.

The concept design features Doctor Strange in what could be described as a more sleek and modern version of the costume that was ultimately chosen for the final film. Also, note the coverings on the sorcerer supreme’s hands.

You can check out the concept art below!

What do you think of the unused costume design? Would you have liked to seen this costume used in the film or was the final version featured in the movie the right choice? Share your thoughts below!

Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.

Directed by Scott Derrikson and co-written by C. Robert Cargill, Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, Benjamin Bratt, Scott Adkins, Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton.

Doctor Strange will be available on Digital HD on February 14, 2017 and will be released on Blu-Ray & DVD on February 28, 2018.
