‘Doctor Strange’ Crosses $100 Million Domestic At Box Office

Doctor Strange had quite the opening weekend at the box office. In its first three days, the film earned $85 million at the domestic box office. The film’s success both financially and critically is yet another example of why Marvel is doing so well in the business – which is why lesser-known properties are good bets for the studio to make movies out of.

As of today, the Scott Derrickson-directed film will cross the $100 million U.S. mark. The 14th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has also earned $240.7 million at the international box office, and culminates to $339.6 million worldwide.

The film is also expected to be #1 at the box office for the second weekend in a row, beating out Paramount Pictures’ newest film, Arrival which stars Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.
