When discussing which characters he would like to see make their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, Derrickson echoed the sentiments of many fans.
I mean, there’s a lot of discussion about Moon Knight maybe coming into the MCU. I think that’s a good idea. I dunno… Actually, scratch that answer. Here’s my answer. My answer is this: I still have hope that Fantastic Four can be properly brought into the MCU because a lot of Doctor Strange – that’s the comment I read the most during that. I love those characters and I think that they still deserve another shot at finding a true home in the MCU. I still have hope for that. That’s my honest answer.
Derrickson does not state whether he means a fresh start with the Fantastic Four or a cross studio deal with 20th Century Fox to include the latest incarnation of the team. Regardless, it is probably pointless to speculate as Simon Kinberg has stated that the studio plans to move forward with a sequel to the latest Fantastic Four film and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently stated a deal with Fox is an “impossibility.”
